Opportunities

We’re looking for approximately 200 volunteers to fill a wide range of roles, including:

Register as a General Volunteer if you’re open to helping wherever needed to help make the Ontario 55+ Summer Games a success! General volunteers may be assigned to a variety of tasks, including event logistics, participant support, social media assistance, photography, and support for Games Organizing Committee activities. Your flexibility helps ensure the Games run smoothly and efficiently.

Administration Volunteers provide essential support at the Games Headquarters and various venues. Responsibilities include welcoming participants, offering information and assistance to event attendees (such as directing them to washrooms, seating/rest areas, and providing maps and schedules), answering event-related questions, and assisting with food and beverage services if applicable.

Food Services Volunteers play an important role in supporting participants and volunteers by ensuring they have access to food and beverages throughout the event. Volunteers may assist with picking up and delivering meals to participants and volunteers, bringing food and beverages from storage to break areas, and monitoring break areas to ensure they are kept clean and organized. Responsibilities also include ensuring that garbage and recyclables are properly discarded to maintain a tidy environment.

Games Organizing Committee Members play a key role in the planning and execution of the Ontario 55+ Summer Games. Members assist with coordinating event logistics, overseeing volunteer teams, and ensuring that all aspects of the Games run smoothly. Please select this role if you are already a member of the Games Organizing Committee or are interested in joining.

Logistics/Venue Operations Volunteers play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the games. Volunteers may assist with setting up and tearing down equipment, booths, and signage at various venues. Responsibilities include coordinating the delivery and distribution of materials, attending to on-site signage, and helping with inventory management. Volunteers may also be involved in loading, unloading, and shipping equipment to and from the venues to ensure everything is in place for each event.

Medical Volunteers play a vital role in ensuring the health and safety of all participants during the games. Volunteers will be stationed at various venues to provide first-response care for minor injuries or medical concerns. Responsibilities include monitoring participant well-being, responding to on-site incidents, and assisting with emergency protocols when needed. A valid Standard First Aid/Level C CPR certification is required for this role; individuals with equivalent or higher medical training and credentials may also qualify.

Opening Ceremonies and Special Event Volunteers play a key role in making the Games’ special moments unforgettable. Volunteers may assist at the Opening Ceremonies (Tuesday, August 5, at the Grace Hartman Amphitheatre) and/or the Middle Night Event (Wednesday, August 6 at Science North). Responsibilities may include supporting event logistics, setup and teardown, cleanup, welcoming guests, guiding them to dining or viewing areas, and assisting with dinner service.

Registration and Accreditation Volunteers are often the first point of contact for participants, helping to set a positive tone for their experience. Volunteers will assist in welcoming participants and delegates, completing the registration process upon arrival, and distributing welcome packages that include event schedules, credentials, venue maps, and other essential game-related materials.

Safety and Security Volunteers help ensure a safe, organized, and enjoyable experience for everyone at the Games. Tasks include Parking Lot Attendant roles – helping manage traffic flow and ensuring accessible parking – and performing Access Control duties, such as monitoring entry points.

Sport Operations Volunteers help keep the action running smoothly across 16 different sports. Tasks may include minor officiating duties such as scorekeeping and timekeeping, recording and reporting results, and assisting with website updates. Volunteers may also help by answering questions related to events, schedules, and locations, ensuring participants feel informed and supported throughout their travel.
